For the Foodies

Here is a cluster of photos from various random, but awesome food adventures.

I shall first show you fruits that I believe are uncommon in the States.

This here beaut is called a bategreen fresh or 青. It is like a very tasteless, compact, hard apple with a seed for a core. It’s not too bad, the crispness of the fruit is quite refreshing.

Starfruit! They have this in the states, but it’s more common here. If you’ve never had it, it’s like a cross between an apple and a green plum. =]

Green cake: Green tea cake with red bean in whipped cream

Brown cake: Tiramisu

The two cost around US$2.75.

First Class Eggettes - Boo ya!

So my friends and I were strolling along the Tsim Sa Tsui area when we came across this little booth with a big crowd blocking the street. Apparently famous HK stars and important peoples go there for their eggettes.  The “God of Eating” (this really famous Chinese food critic) called it the most legit eggettes ever - his words, not mine.

I just had to try these eggettes! They were about US$1.70 for 13 pieces. They were quite unlike the ones I’ve tried in the states. The outside layer is crispy like a thin wafer, and the inside is nice and soft. The batter was very fragrant, tasted as though honey was added. I am one happy customer, grinning as others continue to fight their way to eggette heaven. Oh yeah, I also got a skewer of curry fishballs dipped in this hot pepper/curry sauce.
